Ec chajim is a dynamic and quickly-growing Progressive Jewish community in Prague. Established in 2019 by a group of young Czech Jews including me, Ec chajim opened its synagogue and community center in 2020 and a year later became a proud member of the World Union for Progressive Judaism and European Union for Progressive Judaism.
Ec chajim is a spiritual home for Jews of all generations and backgrounds and offers a wide variety of services including religious, social, educational and interfaith programs. The community provides regular Hebrew and Judaism classes, which served to conversion candidates as well as the wider public, organised exciting activities for children including regular weekly programs and special workshops for Jewish holidays.
Ec chajim's synagogue is a home to the Czech Torah Scroll No. 1052 from the prestigious collection of the Memorial Scrolls Trust. The community center of Ec chajim serves as the headquarters of the Central European Beit Din, the only Progressive Rabbinic court for the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.
